Please come prepared to work and to help out as needed. One of the best ways to learn is to walk along with/behind other handlers/trainers and their dogs that are going through a particular training event. The fields or around the water areas are often damp or muddy so having some type of waterproof footwear is highly recommended. It is also highly recommended that you use some type of flea/tick repellent on both you and your dog. At some of the training day sessions a lunch may be available for a small cash donation. You will be advised ahead of time if there will be a lunch. If a lunch is not provided, you may want to bring a lunch as there are no restaurants/gas stations that are very close to the training area. The chapter is not responsible for any property or equipment left on the grounds.
In order to participate in the Central States NAVHDA training days you must have completed the following:

Review of CSN Annual Meeting/Training Day Expectations/Review of NA Test
The day’s events will focus on obedience and skills to prepare for the Natural Ability test – be prepared to learn to plant birds, do tracks, swim your pup and have fun!
ALL DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH WHEN THEY COME OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE UNLESS THEY ARE IN THE TRAINING FIELD/WATER.
Most of the training exercises are going to be designed around developing
your pups for the Natural Ability test.
There will be quail and pheasants available to purchase for training.
Bumpers will be used at the water for the swim exercise.
The weather will be unpredictable-could be snow, rain or sunny! Be prepared!
Bring water for your dog, along with whatever training gear you use. You’ll need a leash, and if you use a check cord, e-collar, and whistle. A crate or stake-out is recommended to keep your dog quiet and comfortable while waiting its turn in the field.
We will be handing out birds at check in before the training day starts.
From that point on, the birds are your responsibility!
If you have questions regarding the training day, please contact
Pam Robinson or Shari Stueck!
It would be appreciated if you would send a “Planning to attend” email to RufnitKennels@AOL.com if you are planning on joining us!
Hope to see you at training!
