Training Information

Fun with great dogs and great people!

Please come prepared to work and to help out as needed. One of the best ways to learn is to walk along with/behind other handlers/trainers and their dogs that are going through a particular training event. The fields or around the water areas are often damp or muddy so having some type of waterproof footwear is highly recommended. It is also highly recommended that you use some type of flea/tick repellent on both you and your dog.   The chapter is not responsible for any property or equipment left on the grounds.

In order to participate in the Central States NAVHDA training days you must have completed the following:

International NAVHDA Member
Central States NAVHDA Member
Proof of up-to-date vaccinations (all dogs on grounds)
Companions must be at least 4 months of age (16 weeks)
Hunter orange must be worn in the field when live ammo is in use.
All dogs must be leashed at ALL times when not in the field or water.

Quail (possibly pigeons, ducks, chukar and pheasants) will be available to purchase for the above training sessions. Upland birds must be pre-ordered three business days prior to the training session and ducks may or may not be avaof pigeons or ducks at pam@robingunkennels,com that would be available for pick up at each training session.  Please bring a bird bag/crate for birds ordered.

ALL DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH WHEN THEY COME OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE UNLESS THEY ARE IN THE TRAINING FIELD/WATER.

There will be birds available to purchase for training but must be ordered three days in advance of the training day.

The weather will be unpredictable! Be prepared!

Bring water for your dog, along with whatever training gear you use. You’ll need a leash, and if you use a check cord, e-collar, and whistle.  A crate or stake-out is recommended to keep your dog quiet and comfortable while waiting its turn in the field.

Everyone is expected to pay for their birds when they pick them up. From that point on, the birds are your responsibility!

If you have questions regarding the training day, please contact
Pam Robinson or Shari Stueck!

It would be appreciated if you would send a “Planning to attend” email to RufnitKennels@AOL.com if you are planning on joining us for training days!

Hope to see you at training!
